Christ and the Church

In the mutual benefit of married life, there is a spiritual lesson for us. Christ and the church are portrayed before us like husband and wife. In a number of Jesus’ parables, we are able to draw similar lessons.

For instance, in the parable of the ten virgins, Jesus himself is portrayed as that husband and the five wise virgins as the wife.

A similar picture is: “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come and his wife hath made herself ready” (Revelation 19:7).

Since we long for and desire the second advent of our dear Lord or husband, let us adorn ourselves with fine linen which symbolises righteousness before the eye of our prospective husband. Indeed that is when what we now see as a type, shall become a reality. “Even so, come Lord Jesus.”
