A Promise of Peace

When the people of Noah’s day did evil in the eyes of the Lord, He flooded the world and only those people who listened to the words of the Lord given through Noah survived. God was not pleased that the people died, because He really wanted people to live and not to die, so He set the rainbow to be a sign of remembrance. He wanted people to look at the sign, and remember, so that they would avoid destruction again.

The colours of the rainbow are symbolic:

Yellow = Faith

Red = Sin

Green = Eternal life

Blue = Heavenly

Purple = Royalty, a reference to the Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 4:3; 10:1)

Jesus (royalty) will bring peace to the world, following all the storms and violence of the present age (Isaiah 32:17,18; Psalm 12:6,7). Since no-one really wants to lose this promise, let us hear the call of the Lord, believe in him and repent. Then we will become sons and daughters related to the promises.

Let us not make excuses or give a negative response when we are called. Let us not be like the man who was called in youth and said, “I am young, occupied with work and so I’ll think about it when I am older”. He was again called in middle age and he replied, “Please, I am busy at home and at work. I cannot neglect my responsibilities. Perhaps when I retire.” Finally he was called in old age, and he responded, “I am now old, unable to walk long distances, and unable to read and write for my eyes do not see well.” He finally died, denying God’s call. Let us avoid that fate but give a quick, positive response to the call. Let us come to God, for God is peace (Judges 6:24).
