Comfort, Peace and Hope

Comfort – a feeling that comes from knowing how much God and Jesus care for us (John 13:1).  As Christians we really know that there is someone to turn to when we are in trouble (Matt.11:28-30). Jesus calls us, he wants to give us rest and learn humility from him.  His yoke is easy and his burden is light, so what can stop us getting rest from him? Why let our heart be troubled? (John 14:1),  Is it not easy to believe in Jesus? – certainly it is.  The Lord will never leave us alone, never will he forsake us. (Heb. 13:5), so brothers and sisters let us gain comfort for the Lord is with us for ever and ever.

Peace – the calm that comes from trusting in the Lord.  An ease that comes from surrendering our worries and anxieties to His power. Brothers and sisters, we have to live peacefully in the Lord, love one another, not worrying about worldly things, for the Lord is with us. “Peace be with
you” Jesus said (John 20:26)? If yes, then let us enjoy it to the full and preach it to others.

Hope – having the strength that comes from knowing that even the deepest sadness cannot last for ever.  Believing that happiness lies ahead. Having comfort and peace in the world, we must have hope.  Although we are facing more problems in the world, such as earthquakes, war, hunger and so on, we must not worry.  We know that Jesus is there for us and when he returns and establishes the new world, we shall rejoice.  When the Lord comes, eternal peace will prevail, so we must have hope and patiently wait for that day. Read Hebrews 11.

Let us keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour of our Lord’s return..
