Time While Waiting for the Lord

“Who ever keeps the fig tree, will eat its fruit; so he who waits on his master will be honoured. As in water face reflects face, so a man’s heart reveals the man”. Proverbs 27: 18-19.

As he went along Jesus saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus replied. Neither this man nor his parents sinned”. The Lord knows every detail of our birth, he could answer the disciples plainly in this way, instead, they were supposed to ask the mother or father of the blind but Jesus knew all. It was just that away so that the work for the Lord might be magnified by the people of this world.

Jesus said to the blind, “Wash in the pool of Siloam” this word Siloam means sent. The blind went and washed and came seeing. Now men were amazed, they asked, “Isn’t this the poor beggar?” Some said yes and some said no. Now the blind man himself believed and said, I am the one. The men demanded, “How then were your eyes opened?” He replied, “A man called Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to wash in Siloam. So I did and then I could see.”

The Pharisees Investigated the healing.

Jesus did it on the Sabbath day and they said, This man is not from God because he does not keep the Sabbath day to be holy. They reasoned in a party. Some said, Mmm! How can a sinner do such miraculous signs? Now they were divided, so they wouldn’t believe it until they sent for the mans' parents. Is this your son? Who you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see? The parents said, “We know he is our son and we know he was born blind”. But they couldn’t tell who opened his eyes. They said to them. Ask him, he is of age he will speak. The parents feared the Jews for they said, Anyone who acknowledged Jesus might be put out of the synagogue. Insults were hurled on this blind man when he told them it was jesus, and they said, You are a fellow disciple of Jesus, but we are disciples of Moses. We know that God spoke to Moses, as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from (John 9).

Spiritual Blindness. Jesus heard that they had thrown him out and when he found him he said, Do you believe in the Son of Man? But the man asked who he was for he did not know. But he was told by Jesus “You have now seen him, in fact he is the one speaking with you.”

“The blind man believed after the Lord healed him and he worshipped him. Jesus said, For judgement I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind”. The Jews saw but they were still blind. It means they were blind to understanding the miracle of the healing of the blind man. They were spiritually blind even though they had eyes to see. Let us do the work; preach to every corner of the world while it is still day.

Jesus is our Master. Jesus is our refuge. Jesus is our shepherd. “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me. Just as the Father knows me I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also, they too will listen to my voice and there shall be one fold and one shepherd. (John 14-16). Be blessed in the coming Kingdom of our Messiah.
