The Boiling Pot

Jeremiah, who was set apart and appointed a prophet to the nations, saw a boiling pot tilting away from the north (Jer 1:13). In his days it was Assyria, today this scripture is about to be fulfilled by the latter day Assyrian king of the North. Be careful or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life. Be always on the watch and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man. Let the reader understand and he who has an ear let him hear. This is what the Lord Almighty the God of Israel says, the whole world will know whose word will stand – mine or theirs.

When all this comes true - and it surely will - Christ will set us free, and we can have a degree of confidence in the day of judgement, because we have tried to serve him. We have been baptised into Christ, have clothed ourselves with Christ, who will then transform our lowly bodies, so that they will be like his glorious body, being renewed in knowledge in the image of our Creator. The Lord says of those who have not prepared themselves, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. They exchange the truth for a lie and worship and serve created things rather than the Creator”. “All day long they twist my words speaking abusively against whatever they do not understand; grumbles and fault-finders, they follow their own evil desires, they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage”.

God’s intent is that now, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to all…according to his eternal purpose – the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints.

Jesus Christ exhorts us, “If those days had not been cut short no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. At that time the Son of Man will appear with power and great Glory”; unleashing against the rebellious nations his hot anger, his wrath, indignation and hostility, “He will rule them with an iron scepter”. He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruninghooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war any more. Every man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree.

He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And he will be their peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

Gladness and joy will overtake the redeemed and sorrow and sighing will flee away. Watch the boiling pot and always pray that it may not spill over you but that you may escape the seething ingredients. Remember, in this world you will have trouble, but take heart. Christ Jesus has overcome the world. God bless you.
