RAROTONGAI will tell you about idol carving (Tiki = statue, Tangaron = god). When the first missionaries arrived in Rarotonga in 1823 Rev John William of England and Papehia of Tahiti from the LMS (London Missionary Society), the Island’s Chief and the people burned their idol god (Tiki Tangaron).
