God’s Judgement and Mercy

When Christ returns, he is going to be given authority and power from God to judge this world. He is going to separate the righteousness and lovely deeds of the saints from the wicked. We all know that Christ now sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven.

There were all sorts of sins done in Sodom. The Lord decided to tell Abram about Sodom (Genesis 18:20). God explained to Abraham how bad the city had become. Hundreds of years before this, God told Noah that he would punish the world with a flood (Genesis 6:13). We also read later in the Bible that God sent Jonah to Nineveh to tell the people that he would overthrow the city if they did not repent of the sins (Jonah 1).

Our God is kind, loving and compassionate to His creation. He does not make any judgement without first warning, and He still warns us today to turn away from all wickedness. During Old Testament times, the Lord never did anything without first telling His prophets about it (Amos 3:7). In our time we do not have prophets as in the Old Testament, we do not speak direct to God, but we have the Bible to guide us to walk spiritually and help us attain salvation at Jesus Christ’s impending arrival. Let us pray for God’s kingdom to come soon. When Jesus comes, our hearts shall rejoice and our eyes shall see him.
