Are You Resting in the Forefront of the Hottest Battle?

Are we resting when our house is on fire? For those who want to destroy our house want our lives also, and we cannot be spared. When we were children of the war, we were trained to defend our lives and the house in which we lived. Our training was not a battle but it was a preparation for war.

Now we are training for a different battle, we have joined the war of our commander Jesus Christ. We are in the battle field, now fighting our opponents. We cannot be at rest unless we win the battle. We have no resting place if we are losers. Let’s put on the armour of God and take our weapons. Remember the armour of God is any covering worn as a defence against weapons.

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore having your loins girt about with truth and having on the breast plate of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God” (Eph 6:13-17).

Our enemies are very strong indeed and if we are lazy we will be defeated. Remember one of our predecessors, Joash the king of Israel. He was told to shoot but he was not told how many times. He was shooting without seeing the enemy face to face. He shot four times, once through the window and thrice on the floor and he stopped. He shot only four times. Why four times? Was he tired? Was he lazy? Or was he bored? Joash was told to shoot but was he told to stop? If not, why stop? We started learning the Truth when we were students. And now it is our time to put into practice what we have learned. We should not put our truth into idleness as if it is useless.

Brethren, are we tired of the truth? Are we bored? Or are we lazy? The king of Israel angered Elisha, the man of God because he stopped shooting without being told. So should we anger our Master, the Commander-in-Chief, Jesus Christ? Jesus our Commander does not blow a whistle to show that our battle is over. So why should we stop? Are we rebellious to our Master’s command to keep on fighting?

We have put on the armour of God but do we have weapons? A weapon is anything used against our opponents or adversaries. A wise man will not get tired with the truth. Do we really know how to use our weapons? And against whom? Do we really know our satans? Let us use these weapons to fight against our enemies, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, faith, meekness, temperance to overcome evil things.

We can identify our enemies because they are there in the Bible and our weapons are also there. What is needed is for us to open our eyes wide and see our enemies. Let us shoot them one by one until we have consumed them all. If we shoot only four times and stop as Joash the king of Israel did, we will not be successful in our battle and we will lose our place.
